About Me
Nicola Zorzi (Verona, 1971) is an opera director. His artistic-creative path includes important and multifaceted experiences ranging from theater to musicals, to the creation of spectacular formats for theme parks and entertainment management.
He embarks on a course of study that embraces the search for images, animated by a passion for photography, scenography and light to arrive at theater direction.
After his academic training with a degree at the DAMS in Bologna, Theater specialization, he obtained a master's degree in scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Verona.
He trained as an assistant director at the Fondazione Arena di Verona, gaining decades of experience in the creation and management of outdoor shows.
He works at the most important Italian and foreign theaters collaborating with prestigious directors such as Graham Vick, Robert Carsen, Hugo de Ana, Pier'Alli, Gigi Proietti, Giuliano Montaldo, Giorgio Gallione, Marco Gandini, Denis Krief.
His collaboration with Franco Zeffirelli was intense and long-lasting, for which he oversaw revivals and new stagings of Aida, Don Giovanni, Tosca, Carmen, Madama Butterfly, Trovatore and Turandot . For the Teatro alla Scala he revived the historic Aida of 1963 at the Seoul Art Center and, at the Guangzhou Opera Theatre, the inaugural Aida of the 2006 La Scala season .
The first professional commitment was with Lucia di Lammermoor at the Tirana Opera House, a theater with which he also collaborated in the years following his debut with the operas Turandot, Rigoletto and Norma . Important new productions followed such as Rigoletto, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Macbeth, Nabucco, Madama Butterfly .
Teacher and director at LTL Opera Studio at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa he has staged a new production of Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Theatres of Pisa, Livorno, Lucca and Novara).
He is co-director together with Quirino Conti in The Secret Wedding with costumes by Piero Tosi at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto.
He explores the potential of new technologies and different forms of language, which are the basis of his recent multidisciplinary experiences for theater and theme parks, thus broadening his artistic path.
With the collaboration of Emir Kusturica he directs Magna Grecia, the myth of origins , a historical-epic drama. The show inaugurated Arena Sinni, a stage space that boasts a hyper-technological multimedia system.
Since 2017, a new, exciting path of collaboration begins with Movieland Park, the first Italian park dedicated to the world of cinema, for the relaunch of the artistic division.
He designs and stages original live shows such as: Medusa the Epic Show , Sweet Nightmare , Movie Magic Machine , Jungla , Thank You Elvis , Once Upon a Time Ennio Morricone and countless street shows inspired by the world and magic of cinema.
In 2021 he is leading the project and re-installation of the park's historic attraction: the Horror House, transforming it into an innovative immersive journey, of multi-sensory rooms, for which he took care of the sets, lights, special effects and the preparation of the actors.
Various awards have rewarded the artistic activity of recent years.
Since 2022 he has held the position of Entertainment manager in order to relaunch, in terms of activities and visuals, also the events linked to the seasonal nature of the park.
